Background of the Study

In recent years, instant messaging (IM) has emerged as a fundamental tool for enhancing communication and collaboration within organizations. IM platforms, such as WhatsApp, Slack, and Microsoft Teams, provide immediate, informal, and effective communication channels that facilitate faster decision-making, project management, and information sharing. In Billiri Local Government Area (LGA) of Gombe State, many businesses and institutions are beginning to adopt these platforms to streamline internal communication processes. According to recent research (Abubakar & Bello, 2023; Ibrahim et al., 2024), IM has been proven to enhance collaboration by reducing communication delays and improving team coordination. However, despite the widespread use of IM, the specific impact on employee collaboration in the corporate communication context within Billiri remains underexplored. This study aims to investigate how IM platforms influence collaboration among employees in organizations based in Billiri, shedding light on their effectiveness in corporate communication practices.
